One of our Michael's Makers projects for this month was to make something that we wanted to make all last year, but never got around to it. After whipping up this garland, I really wish I hadn't waited so long. It was so simple to make and the tassels can be thrown together during one episode of the Bachelor!
LOVE those kinds of projects!
SUPPLIES:
- Sugar 'n Cream Yarn in Tangerine, Red Rouge and Mod Green
- Creatology Gold Knotting Cord (in the kids crafts)
- Needle (with a large eye)
TO MAKE THE TASSELS:
We used a 3 1/2" piece of cardboard to wrap the yarn around 40 times. Tie a not at the top and flip the cardboard over and cut the opposite end of the yarn. Remove your tassel from the cardboard and fold your tassel in half (with the knot at the top and the cut end at the bottom). Tie another piece of yarn about 3/4" down from your first knot.
After you make all of your tassels, thread your Knotting Cord through the needle and run your needle and cord through each of the tassels.
(Gold vinyl triangles found here)
One piece of advice...make a Yarn Tassel Garland tomorrow not next year! What other projects are on your to-do list for 2015? Stop by Michaels' blog The Glue String for inspirations from all 30 of the Michaels Makers.
Check back later today and see how we organized some of our craft supplies. We are in LOVE with how it turned out.
